AT&T IR U-verse
TV Remote Control
User Guide
Installing Batteries
The remote control requires
two AA size (1.5V) Alkaline
batteries to work.
Tips: replace the batteries
every nine months for opti-
mum performance.
1. On the back of the remote
control, press the battery
cover tab forward, lift and
remove the battery cover.
2. Insert two (2) AA-size bat-
teries, matching the + and
symbols with the bat-
tery pictures.
3. Put the battery cover back
on and test the remote
control by pressing the
AT&T key. The AT&T key
should light up to indicate
that batteries are inserted
properly.
Controlling Other
Devices
In order to control other de-
vices with your U-Verse TV
Remote Control, you need to
tell the remote control what
types of devices you have.
Section 1 guides you through
the steps needed to do this.
When you complete Section 1,
the volume and channels will
always work on the U-verse
TV Receiver no matter what
mode you are in. If you want
to change this or allow the
POWER key to affect multiple
devices then you can also fol-
low the steps in Section 2. If
you’d like to reset any of the
settings then you can go to
Sections 3 and 4.
1. Programming the
remote to control
other devices
To use the U-verse TV remote
control for your other devices,
you will need to program one
or more of the TV, DVD or AUX
buttons at the top of the re-
mote control. There are two
ways to do this. If your device
is listed in the Manufacture
Code List at the end of this
Manual, you can use section
A. If your device is not listed,
you will need to use section
B.
Note:
The AUX button may be pro-
grammed to operate a VCR,
Home Theater In A Box (HTIB),
Receiver or Amplifier.
A. Manually
Use the following steps to
program the TV, DVD or AUX
mode keys:
1. Power on the device you
want to program
2. Locate the 4-digit set-up
code for the device you
want to program from the
Manufacture Code List in
this manual. If your device
is not listed you will need
to use section B on “Using
the Automatic Search”. If
there are multiple codes
listed for your device, you
may need to repeat steps
2 through 7 to find the
correct one.
3. Press and hold the appro-
priate mode key you want
to assign to this device
(TV, DVD or AUX) on the
remote control
4. While holding the mode
key, press the OK key
5. Release both the mode
key and the OK key
All the mode keys should
flash twice
You’ll now have 10 sec-
onds to start step 6
6. Enter the appropriate 4-
digit set-up code for your
device (from the Manufac-
ture Code List) by pressing
the number keys (0-9) on
the remote control
If the mode key flashes
three times, then a correct
code has been entered.
If the mode key gives a
long flash, then an invalid
code has been entered.
Start over at step 3.
– If all the mode keys give
a long flash, then the re-
mote control has timed-
out. Start over at step 3
7. Point the remote control
at the programmed de-
vice and press the power
key once
The device should turn
off
If it does not turn off,
repeat steps 2 through 6
trying each code for your
brand until you find the
correct code
8. Repeat steps 1 through 7
to program another de-
vice.
Note: If you are interrupted
while you are programming,
the remote control may time-
out before you complete the
code set-up and you will
need to start over. This is in-
dicated by a red flash of the
mode keys.
Now that your devices are pro-
grammed, you can press the
appropriate mode key on the
remote control to work with
the selected device. To use
the remote control for your U-
verse TV Receiver again, press
the AT&T mode key.
Combination Devices Note:
If you have an integrated or
combination unit, such as a
TV/DVD unit, each compo-
nent of the unit needs to be
programmed separately. In
the Manufacture Code List for
these devices there will be
codes for all components of
the combination unit. They
can be distinguished as fol-
lows:
- TV codes start with a “1”
- DVD codes start with a “2”
- AUX codes start with a “3”
For some combination devic-
es, the original remote control
may be required to switch be-
tween the components.
B. Using the
Automatic Search
You can search the remote
control memory for your 4
digit manufacture device
code. You will need to use
this function if the code for
your device is not listed in the
Manufacture Code List.
1. Turn on the device you
wish to program
2. Point the remote control
at the device
3. Press and hold the appro-
priate mode key you want
to assign to this device
(TV, DVD or AUX) on the
remote control
4. While holding the mode
key, press the OK key
5. Release both the mode
key and the OK key
All the mode keys should
flash twice
You’ll now have 10 sec-
onds to start step 6
6. Enter 922 by pressing the
number keys on the re-
mote control
The selected mode key
will flash twice indicating
correct entry
7. For TV or DVD modes press
and release the PLAY key
For AUX searching only,
press and release the
PLAY key then press
1 for VCR

flash twice indicating cor-
rect entry
8. Now press the FF button
multiple times until the
device turns off
9. Press the ENTER key (bot-
tom right) to save the code
on the remote control
10. Check to make sure the
code works by pressing
the mode key, then the
power button, to turn the
device back on. If this
does not work, start again
at step 2.
11. Now that your devices
are programmed, you
can press the appropri-
ate mode key on the re-
mote control to work with
the selected device. To
use the remote control
for your AT&T U-verse TV
Receiver again, press the
AT&T mode key.
Note:
If any other key is pressed
except PLAY, ENTER, POWER,
EXIT, REW, FF, or number keys
1 to 4, the selected mode key
will give a long red flash (er-
ror message) and the remote
control will return to normal
operation and you will need
to start over.
If you are interrupted while
you are programming, the re-
mote control may time-out
before you complete the code
set-up and you will need to
start over. This is indicated by
a red flash of the mode keys.
2. Setting up your
Volume, Channel

The default for your power,
volume and channel con-

at the same time get out of
sync so that some turn ON
and others turn OFF, you will
need to manually turn OFF
the out of sync devices and

turn them all back ON. It is
important to point the remote

this to work properly.

You may change these mode

normal operations
Once you copy the mode key,
you will have both keys with
the same program code. Now
reprogram the original mode
key with a new code for a sec-
ond device.
Note:
